Our goal at CSRA Life Saver is to Save Lives Through Prevention & Education. If people actually knew how many healthy dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters, they would think differently about spaying and neutering and would make it a priority for their pet. Everyone loves dogs and cats, so to think they are being killed due to an over-population crisis is a sobering thought. At Life Saver, we want everyone, regardless of income or location, to be able to have their animal fixed at a price that won't put them in a financial strain. And please, if you use Life Saver for your pets, please tell a friend about us or the other low cost spay/neuter clinics in the CSRA. The more fixed through prevention, the less that will end up in area shelters. Do it for them.
Facts about Pet Overpopulation in the U.S.:
It is impossible to determine how many stray dogs and cats live in the United States; estimates for cats alone range up to 70 million.
The average number of litters a fertile cat produces is one to two a year; the average number of kittens is four to six per litter.
The average number of litters a fertile dog produces is one a year; the average number of puppies is four to six.
Owned cats and dogs generally live longer, healthier lives than strays.
Many strays are lost pets who were not kept properly indoors or provided with identification.
Only 10%of the animals received by shelters have been spayed or neutered, while 83% of pet dogs and 91% of pet cats are spayed or neutered.
The cost of spaying or neutering a pet is less than the cost of raising puppies or kittens for a year.
Our specialty is low cost spay/neuter, low cost vaccines, and low cost preventions. We always recommend that you have a full service Veterinarian for routine care such as dentals, general welfare, and other medical issues related to age and living. This is called a VCPR or (Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship), and it is important for your pet's health and well-being.
NORTH AUGUSTA LOCATION 333 Edgefield Road North Augusta, SC 29841
CSRA Life Saver is a low-cost spay/neuter clinic. We also offer vaccines, heartworm testing/prevention, flea and tick prevention, and microchipping. All of our fees are on "Fees/Aftercare" page.
Although we would like to help with sick or injured animals, we ARE NOT a full service veterinary clinic. So, any pet medical issues or emergencies should be taken directly to a local full service veterinary clinic.
**Every dog needs to be on a leash, and every cat needs to be in a carrier. No Exceptions. This is for everyone's safety, your animal's first and foremost. If you don't have a carrier, a cardboard box should suffice. Poke holes in for air, and tape shut. Please note that if your cat comes for surgery in a very large container, we will require the purchase of a cardboard carrier. The cost is $5.00 and they can usually be reused.**
Please note that we need everyone signed in for vaccines 30 minutes prior to closing to ensure your pet gets seen before the veterinarian leaves. Thank you for your cooperation in advance.
7-11-2014 IMPORTANT MESSAGE for our CSRA Life Saver family! For all of our loyal CSRA Life Saver clients, and any new faces we have yet to meet: In an effort to keep us in compliance with AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) guidelines, we will be implementing a physical exam for a minimal fee of $8.00 per animal.
This Exam is Good for One Full Year!
We, at CSRA Life Saver, apologize for any inconvenience this may cause as we strive to meet the AVMA guidelines for clinics of our type. Thank you for your patience during this time, and we value your patronage.
8-23-2015 We have successfully spayed and neutered over 23,000 animals since opening in 2003. This HAS to be making a difference in the amount euthanized in the CSRA each year. With your help, we can decrease the amount euthanized which is around 13,000 every year due to severe over-population. Please make the responsible choice and have your pet fixed. At these prices, and with other local discounted clinics, there isn't a reason not to have it done.
